How living abroad facilitates the creative life! Wonderful world of insects :-) My 9 year old daughters questions about insects inspired me, to photograph insects to be able to answer all her questions! Now we look at home at their eyes, at their bodies and trying to find out if it's a female or a male which isn't usually easy to find out, but I'm doing my best to answer all her questions. We are super excited about a new world!
I was born in a tiny village in Switzerland sourrounded by nature and mountains close to the majestic Alps. I am also a painter who takes colours from used paper materials, for whom brush strokes are pieces of torn posters, magazines, newspapers and phone books collected from all over the World while I used to live several years in Asia and North America. I overpaint certain parts of the paper to receive more texture and deepness. Lately my work has been dominated by the usage of posters collected from illegal billposting places in Switzerland. I am attracted by the fragility perceived in this material which has suffered the passing of time. My portrait work aims to personalize the people I paint through the Newspaper cutting I use. The process allows the piece to work on different levels, depending on the viewer's distance from the work. The paintings have immediate visual impact or "first impression". However, much like the people they represent - the closer you look, the more you see. I am irremediably in love with texture and getting out the most of every material.
